Both estimates come from a financing company, rather than a province-wide survey of surgical fees. They should not be combined into a supposed Ontario average.
What Should a Written Quote Include?
Surgeon fees are only one part of the cost of liposuction. Anaesthesia, facility charges, tests, prescriptions and postoperative garments can also affect the total. [5]
- Treatment area: Does “chin” include the front of the neck or any jawline contouring?
- Technique and anaesthesia: What is planned, and are any device-related charges additional?
- Aftercare: Which appointments, garments and medications are included?
- Extra treatment: What would a revision or an unplanned assessment cost?
- Final amount: Is tax included, and what are the deposit and cancellation terms?
HST and Financing
Purely cosmetic procedures are generally subject to GST/HST, and Ontario’s HST rate is 13%. For example, a taxable C$5,000 fee becomes C$5,650 after HST; this is arithmetic, not a treatment quote. [6], [7]
If financing is offered, compare the interest rate, fees, repayment period and total amount repayable. A lower monthly payment does not necessarily mean a less expensive loan. [24]
Is Double Chin Liposuction Covered by OHIP?
Cosmetic chin and neck liposuction is not covered by OHIP. Ontario lists cosmetic surgery among services the plan does not cover. [8]
A new lump, painful swelling or difficulty swallowing needs medical assessment rather than a cosmetic treatment assumption. An assessment for a health concern does not automatically make elective contouring insured.
Double Chin Removal: Fat, Loose Skin or Neck Bands?
“Double chin removal” describes a desired change, not a single operation. The examination should identify which tissues contribute to the contour you want to change. [1], [12]

Potential candidates generally have localised fat, suitable skin elasticity, realistic expectations and health that supports healing. Smoking or vaping and medical conditions that impair recovery need discussion before a surgical plan is agreed. [9]
Liposuction is a contouring procedure, not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for weight management. Stable weight helps with planning and maintaining the result. [2]

Chin Liposuction vs. Non-Surgical Double Chin Treatments
Belkyra and Fat-Dissolving Injections
Belkyra is a deoxycholic acid injection with a Canadian indication for moderate to severe fullness associated with submental fat in adults. Its product monograph does not establish safe and effective use elsewhere on the body. [20]
Treatment may require multiple sessions, and swelling, bruising and discomfort can occur. The monograph also describes risks including nerve injury that can affect the smile and difficulty swallowing. [20]
Compare the estimated total course of treatment, expected changes and recovery after each session with a surgical quote. Do not assume that an injectable treatment has no downtime or can correct loose skin.
Energy-Based Treatments and Skin Tightening
If a clinic proposes a device instead of surgery, request its exact name, intended treatment area and evidence for the outcome being promised. Ask whether the goal is fat reduction, a change in skin appearance or both.
These goals should be separated when comparing quotes. A device’s availability does not establish that it can reproduce a surgical neck lift for your anatomy.
Chin Liposuction Recovery: Work, Swelling and Exercise
Plan recovery around the actual operation and your surgeon’s instructions. Chin liposuction performed alone has a different recovery plan from liposuction combined with a neck lift or another procedure.

A compression garment may be prescribed to help manage swelling. Ask how to wear it, when it can be removed and what to do if it becomes uncomfortable. [15]
Do not start massage or other aftercare treatments unless your surgeon recommends them. Obtain driving advice based on your medication, alertness and ability to move safely.
Planning Treatment in Toronto and the GTA
If you travel from elsewhere in Ontario, confirm when the clinic needs to see you again and whether you should remain nearby. Allow for travel time, a support person and changes to work or caregiving arrangements.
Ask who provides urgent advice after hours and how an in-person assessment would be arranged if you have already returned home. Include these practical costs when comparing clinics.
Scars, Before-and-After Photos and Lasting Results
Small access incisions can leave scars even when they are placed discreetly. Ask where yours would be and discuss any history of raised or troublesome scarring. [13], [17]
To assess a surgeon’s chin liposuction before-and-after photos, look for consistent lighting, camera distance, head position and views. Ask whether the patient also had a neck lift, chin augmentation or another treatment.
Check how long after surgery the photograph was taken and whether the patient had similar skin quality and starting concerns. Individual photographs show examples, not a prediction of your result.
Liposuction results can be long lasting, but weight changes and ageing still affect appearance. Remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain, and some people need further treatment to address residual concerns. [2], [22]
